The world faces huge threats and huge opportunities.  Whether humanity averts the threats and seizes the opportunities depends on our ability to learn together.  All social problems require social solution.  So it makes sense that we get better at the social process of collective learning.

Much is already known about how systems of all kinds solve problems.  But the knowledge is scattered across disciplines, from the social sciences to computer sciences to the humanities.  And differing cultures offer diverse insights into modes of collective learning. So this website is a space where diverse thinkers from around the world may integrate their insights about collective learning.  From this collaboration there may emerge some general principles and rules of thumb which could help social systems of all kinds better adapt and learn.

But collective learning can be used for good or bad ends.  So the goal here is the kind of collective learning that meets the great ends of life, that leads to human flourishing, that nurtures a collectively wise world.

Most of the pages on this site are participatory.  They are designed for collaboration using Joomla (a Content Management System) and MediWiki (the generator that has allowed millions to share knowledge at Wikipedia). Please feel free to add your ideas to our forum, articles, blogs, resource list, and visions of the future.  You can upload audio and video files.  The Wiki pages will let you and others edit work we do together, such as building models of collective learning systems, and gathering a set of "mid-level propositions" about the dynamics of collective learning systems.
